Johny Serrano is a 22-year-old entrepreneur. For the “Cacao de la Sierra” (Cacao from the Sierra), he has created a business social media profile. “Cacao de la Sierra” was born as Johny and another partner’s final project in the “Touristic experiences and circuits design” course, offered by the “Anfitriones para la Paz” (Hosts for Peace) initiative. “The first tours we promoted them in nearby hostels”, Johny says. “We made flyers, went to the hostels, and we offered them the service”. With the knowledge granted by the course, Johny and his partner have started promoting their business by creating content for social media. The course is part of the “Anfitriones para la Paz” (Hosts for Peace) initiative and part of the “Puentes/Rural for Young People” project, developed by ICCO Cooperation in partnership with IFAD. This initiative provides technical training to Colombian young adults who live in rural areas, giving them knowledge about cuisine, table and bar serving, bakery, pastry and confectionery, accommodation services, tourism operations, and digital content creation. To date, “Anfitriones para la Paz” has offered technical training to over 700 young adults in rural areas of La Guajira, Nariño, Magdalena, and Putumayo departments. |
