Title: Vietnam – Project for Adaption to Climate Change in the Mekong Delta in Ben Tre and Tra Vinh Provinces (AMD) – April 2023
Description: Ms Nguyễn Thị Hồng Vân, 41 years old (owner, left) married with 2 children, Mrs. Huynh Thi Kim Binh, 26 years old (middle) married with 1 child, and Ms. Nguyen Van Anh, 16 years old (right) single work together to assemble vegetarian spring rolls. Each of them earns an average income of about VND 6 million per month (US$ 250).

Mrs. Nguyen Thi Hong Van owns and operates the Thanh Van Vegetarian Spring Roll production facility. In 2018, she accessed a loan through the Co-Financing for Adaptation Fund (CFAF) facility of the Adaptation in the Mekong Delta in the Ben Tre and Tra Vinh Provinces (AMD) project. Van invested in a machine to cook pomelo pith, used as spring roll filling, and expanded her facility. She has created employment for people in her community, providing a good income-generating opportunity. For some, their earnings represent the main source of their household income, enabling them to escape poverty.

The Project for Adaptation to Climate Change in the Mekong Delta in the Ben Tre and Tra Vinh Provinces (AMD) strengthened the resilience and adaptive capacity of 54,000 smallholder farmer households by generating sustainable income opportunities and improved rural livelihoods, reaching an estimated 210,000 people. To this end, AMD invests in climate resilient, inclusive, and remunerative value chain opportunities, including coconut, fruits, and aquaculture.
