| Description: | Traditional outdoor slab-drying of cocoa beans in Idanre, Ondo State, southwestern Nigeria, known as Nigeria’s major cocoa farming area. Idanre is one of the communities that has benefited from the IFAD-supported Livelihood Improvement Family Enterprises – Niger Delta (LIFE-ND) project, where farmers are trained in good agricultural practices resulting in significant increases in cocoa production. LIFE-ND has provided dry slab structures that offer a faster and more hygienic drying method, preventing contamination from rain and roaming livestock. This method adds value to the processed beans, bringing additional income both to farmers and processors. |
