Title: Peru - Rural Poor Stimulus Facility (RPSF): AGRIdigitalización – August 2022
Description: Victor Bovadilla is 69-year-old farmer who lives with his wife in the Villa Prado settlement, in the district of Juanjuí, province of Mariscal Cáceres, San Martín region. He has dedicated his whole life to agriculture, working on his farm growing cocoa, wood and Tahiti lime. As a farmer member of the agricultural cooperative ACOPAGRO, the product he sold most was cocoa, but thanks to the AGRIDigitalization project, the cooperative's management team was able to identify new markets for the sale of Tahiti lime and, thus, start a process of improving the product to achieve its commercialization and, therefore, improve the farmer's income. “The main benefit I get from AGRIDigitalization is that it will help me place my limes in good markets when I manage to improve production; that is, the size and color of the limes,” says Victor.

During the AGRIDigitalization project, ACOPAGRO established commercial links with e-commerce platforms that allowed it to identify market interest in the distribution of Tahiti lime at the domestic level, especially in the city of Lima. As a result of this commercial relationship, they were able to sign an agreement that establishes the purchase intention of the digital company Producers Market, once ACOPAGRO complies with the requirements and demands of the market in relation to the quantity and quality of the product. With the signing of this agreement, the cooperative began a pilot test for a period of two years, which includes 14 hectares of productive crops, including Victor's plots.

The AGRIdigitalization project is an IFAD initiative aimed at strengthening farmers’ organizations. It had a business intervention model which included training services, webpage updating, documents and videos translation, and positioning of products on digital platforms outside of traditional commerce. The purpose was to develop and strengthen a support model for organizations to access new markets through e-commerce.
