Title: Peru - Rural Poor Stimulus Facility (RPSF): AGRIdigitalización – August 2022
Description: Palmira Rodríguez Ríos is 58 years old and lives with her husband in the Villa Prado settlement, in the district of Juanjuí, province of Mariscal Cáceres, San Martín region. She has 3 adult children living in Tarapoto, the regional capital city. She and her husband work on their farm, growing cocoa, oranges, bananas and Tahiti lime. The main problems Palmira faces in selling her limes are related to their size and color. “Many merchants won't accept limes with little dark spots on them, so we can only sell them here in San Martín, which lowers our income,” she says.

Thanks to the AGRIDigitalization project, ACOPAGRO, a cooperative her husband is a member of, was able to identify new markets for the sale of Tahiti lime and initiate a process of improvement in their limes in order to sell them under high quality standards, thus increasing their income.

The AGRIdigitalization project is an IFAD initiative aimed at strengthening farmers’ organizations. It had a business intervention model which included training services, webpage updating, documents and videos translation, and positioning of products on digital platforms outside of traditional commerce. The purpose was to develop and strengthen a support model for organizations to access new markets through e-commerce.
