Title: Peru - Rural Poor Stimulus Facility (RPSF): AGRIdigitalización – August 2022
Description: Allima Cacao is an agricultural cooperative that brings together 400 families of small farmers in the district of Chazuta, province of Tarapoto, region of San Martín. The organization is dedicated to the production and commercialization of cocoa beans, in addition to providing technical assistance to producers, most of whom are indigenous citizens belonging to the Quechua ethnic group.

During the crisis caused by the global Covid-19 pandemic, the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) invited the cooperative to participate in the AGRIDigitalization project, an initiative that promoted the insertion of Allima Cacao into the digital market and allowed workers to learn about Internet sales platforms and current trends in consumer behavior. As a result of the intervention, the cooperative not only increased its income and that of its members' families, but also adopted a market model based on the circular economy and developed new and innovative cocoa subproducts that were successfully positioned in the market.

The AGRIdigitalization project is an IFAD initiative aimed at strengthening farmers’ organizations. It had a business intervention model which included training services, webpage updating, documents and videos translation, and positioning of products on digital platforms outside of traditional commerce. The purpose was to develop and strengthen a support model for organizations to access new markets through e-commerce.
