Title: Peru - Rural Poor Stimulus Facility (RPSF): AGRIdigitalización – August 2022
Description: Gening Tapullima Chashnamote is a 57-year-old cocoa farmer in the district of Chazuta, province of Tarapoto, in the Peruvian region of San Martín. Together with his family, he works on his plot of land located one hour into the river. His main challenge after the pandemic is to increase production in order to improve his income. In this regard, the AGRIDigitalization project, through the agricultural cooperative Allima Cacao, has played a very important role for Gening, as it has allowed him to learn about new market models and quality standards for exporting his products. “AGRIDigitalization has been a win-win for everyone, for the management of the cooperative and for us members. As a member farmer, I have a commitment with my cooperative and thanks to the training they provided, I improved the quality of my grains. Now my cocoa is where it deserves to be and I feel very proud to share my production,” says Gening.

The AGRIdigitalization project is an IFAD initiative aimed at strengthening farmers’ organizations. It had a business intervention model which included training services, webpage updating, documents and videos translation, and positioning of products on digital platforms outside of traditional commerce. The purpose was to develop and strengthen a support model for organizations to access new markets through e-commerce.
