Title: Peru - Rural Poor Stimulus Facility (RPSF): AGRIdigitalización – August 2022
Description: Through the AGRIDigitalization project, leading managers of the Allima Cacao agricultural cooperative were able to access a course in business and financial management and were trained in traceability, food safety, governance and digital commerce. The Allima Cacao, an agricultural cooperative established in 2019, which brings together 400 families of small farmers in the Amazonian area of Chazuta, one hour from the province of Tarapoto, in the Peruvian region of San Martín.

For Carlos Angulo Gonzáles, General Manager of the cooperative, technology has significantly changed the work. They now use electronic devices and digital platforms to offer their products, make shipments and coordinate sales processes. He also believes that the AGRIDigitalization project has allowed them to increase the efficiency of their work and make their products more visible. “If we had not been part of AGRIDigitalization, our business would not be sustainable now and we would not be offering new products. The project has been a wake-up call for us to look for new markets and opportunities,” he says.

The AGRIdigitalization project is an IFAD initiative aimed at strengthening farmers’ organizations. It had a business intervention model which included training services, webpage updating, documents and videos translation, and positioning of products on digital platforms outside of traditional commerce. The purpose was to develop and strengthen a support model for organizations to access new markets through e-commerce.
