Rome, 5 March 2024 – Mr Osamu KUBOTA, Vice President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) met with Katie Meighan, Associate Vice-President ERG a.i., IFAD, to sign the renewed Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC). It was also an occasion to highlight the positive cooperation between IFAD and JICA, in particular on the Smallholder Horticulture Empowerment & Promotion (SHEP) and advance the conversation to expand the collaboration under the SSTC, private sector partnership, innovative financing mechanisms as identified in the MoC. The JICA delegation included: Mr Hitoshi FUJIIE, Deputy Director General, Economic Development Department, Agriculture and Rural Development Group; Ms Tomoko Taira, Economic Development Department, Agriculture and Rural Development Group; Ms Yuko Sugawara, Economic Development Department, Agriculture and Rural Development Group; Mr Nobuyuki Kobayashi, Chief Official, Initiative for Food and Nutrition Security in Africa (IFNA) Secretariat; Mr Kenjiro Ban, Senior Consultant, IFNA Secretariat. The IFAD delegation included: Rebecca Slocum, Senior Technical Advisor, ERG; Robert Delve, Lead Global Technical Advisor - Agronomy, PMI / SHEP focal point; Joyce Njoro, Lead Technical Specialist – Nutrition, ECG / IFNA focal point; Amine Belhamissi, Technical Specialist (Grants), RIA / CARD focal point; Ama Brandford-Arthur, Senior Partnership Officer, GPR / SSTC focal point; Mariko Kato, Partnership Officer, GPR/JLO. |
