Verónica Calle Chuquichambi, 23, and her aunt Ubaldina Mollo Calle, 62, talk to someone about the projects promoted by Pro-Camélidos and financed by IFAD. They are in Chojñacota, in the municipality of San Pedro de Totora in Oruro, Bolivia, and are attending the inauguration of a water pumping system using energy generated by solar panels. "It doesn't rain on this side, the wind carries it away, we need water. So, with these photovoltaic projects that benefited us. It has this new panel and a motor," Ubaldina explains. Veronica, as a young leader in her community, is aware of the changes and actions that are needed. Ubaldina, a companion on her journey, is a witness to the transformations that the Pro-Camelidos project has brought to her village. Ubaldina, reflecting on the introduction of the photovoltaic pumps in Chojñacota, highlights the benefits they have experienced in terms of access to water. This innovative technology has been a palpable blessing to the community, providing them with a vital source of water that was previously difficult for them to obtain. Like other villagers, this 62-year-old woman regrets not joining the photovoltaic pump program sooner. |
