Title: | Bolivia - Integral Strengthening Programme for the Camelid Value Chain in the Bolivian High Plateau (Pro-Camélidos) - October 2023 |
Description: |
Verónica Calle Chuquichambi has regular meetings with the parents of the Chojñacota community school in the municipality of San Pedro de Totora in Oruro, Bolivia. As a native authority, she must be present at the different meetings to which she is summoned. "I am an original authority for 2023". At 23 years old, Verónica, in addition to leading in community affairs, is dedicated to raising llamas and alpacas. She stresses the importance of alpaca fiber, not only as a source of income, but also for weaving quality garments. Her ability to coordinate with community elders and resolve disputes between community members reflects her commitment to the well-being and harmony of Chojñacota. Chojñacota is one of the places where the Pro-Camelidos program intervened with funding from the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD). Pro-Camelids seeks to improve the living conditions of families associated with these animals, promoting livestock productivity and the sustainable management of natural resources in the departments of La Paz, Oruro and Potosí. |
