Title: Bolivia - Integral Strengthening Programme for the Camelid Value Chain in the Bolivian High Plateau (Pro-Camélidos) - October 2023
Description: The use of social media for marketing their products has become a necessity for llama meat producers in the municipality of Turco in Oruro, Bolivia. Through the Pro-Camelids program, funded by IFAD, they were trained in the use of technologies to add value to their work. "We can showcase the products through Facebook. 'We have this.' 'How much is it?' they ask us. And it's better to sell that way. Sometimes they send us messages from Chile and ask 'how much'," says Roberta Rivera Mollo, whose family is part of the Association of Agro-livestock Producers of Turco (APAT). Zenayda's experience focuses on her online presence, specifically on Marketplace, where she has been actively promoting the wholesale and retail sale of llama jerky. Her primary focus has been on promoting jerky, while giving less emphasis to chorizo. Her online presence has attracted attention from various places, generating inquiries about prices, wholesale discounts, and the possibility of shipping to destinations such as Cochabamba and Argentina. Zenayda Marca makes good use of digital transactions. After sending the jerky along with an invoice and completing the shipping process, she has realized that this method has proven effective for her business.
