Title: Bolivia - Integral Strengthening Programme for the Camelid Value Chain in the Bolivian High Plateau (Pro-Camélidos) - October 2023
Description: One of the objectives of the members of the Asociación de Productores Agroganaderos de Turco (APAT) in western Bolivia is to export their llama meat products. "For the future, I would like to see more orders, more markets. We want to export more to Argentina and Brazil. That way there will also be more orders and more economic income," says Zenayda Marca, 33.
In the photo she is on the right and she is accompanied by Agustina Choque (56) and Roberta Rivera (33). Agustina is the legal representative of APAT. She says that since its inception, they have undertaken small actions that have shaped the history of the association. The current facility used to be just a bushy space. But with the effort, predominantly by the women of the community, they were able to build the infrastructure that now shelters them with the help of different organizations.

More recently, thanks to the support of Pro-Camelidos and IFAD financing, APAT members were able to purchase modern equipment for the production of llama charque, sausages and mortadella, products that are marketed in different parts of Bolivia. One of the components of Pro-Camelidos involves support for market development, business plans, and knowledge management in processing and marketing.
