Preserving forage for camelid livestock feed is very important. On his property, the Tholatia ranch, located in the Cosapa community in the municipality of Turco in Oruro, Tiburcio Marca Aguilar and his family have specific spaces set aside for the care and storage of forage for their llamas and alpacas to feed when necessary. In another space on his property, Tiburcio has a shed built thanks to the support of Pro-Camélidos, with financing from FIDA. "Before there was straw, now there is none. So we made straw corrals. That one can hold a year, a year and a half, it can't hold any more," Tiburcio says. This structure brings joy to him and his family. "In this way, we had already obtained this project, and in the end, we have already implemented it, but our animals will sleep warmly, well-protected. We are happy, and now we are also concerned about the water issue. We would also like assistance to have a bit more forage, and they have given us mobile pens as well." |
